New green company looking to franchise in Charlotte
Charlotte, NC – Clean Air Lawn Care, a new environmentally friendly lawn maintenance business is looking to open franchises in progressive areas where people are concerned about their quality of life, and Charlotte fits the bill. “This is our first year franchising and we selected Charlotte as one of the top 25 target areas in the country. The people of Charlotte care about their community, and this business is committed to improving air quality in our communities.” Said Kelly Giard, the company’s C.E.O..

Clean Air Lawn Care is a lawn maintenance company that uses clean electric and biodiesel powered equipment. The vehicles that haul this equipment have mounted solar panels which are used to charge the electric equipment during the workday. The equipment is clean and quiet; the business is carbon neutral.

In 2007, the Colorado-based company opened 8 locations across the country including Seattle, Portland, Denver, Boulder, Austin, Salt Lake City, Boston and New York. “The business could have continued to grow at the rate of 5-10 additional cities a year, but that scale just isn’t large enough to change the $11-20 billion dollar lawn care industry”, said Giard. “Franchising is the only viable business model if we want to make a difference.”

With waiting lists forming to get franchise rights in many of the new target areas this winter, it is clear the time is now for this business. There is a heightened awareness of our environment right now and regardless of your opinion on global warming, most people think that less air pollution is a good thing. Less air pollution, less dependency on foreign oil - there’s no reason no to do it.

Did you know …..
• Small engines, in particular 2-stroke engines used in conventional lawn care equipment, contribute to 10-12% of the nation’s air pollution.
• In one hour, one gas lawn mower can pollute as much as an SUV driven 23,600 miles.
• In 2007, Clean Air Lawn Care reduced emissions of well over 100,000 pounds of CO2 and 200 lbs of NOx into the atmosphere.
