March 9, 2009 - Clean Air Lawn Care partners with Neuton Power Equipment to expand pioneering "green" lawn service

VERGENNES, VT, and FORT COLLINS, CO – Clean Air Lawn Care, a full-service sustainable lawn care business that only uses clean electric and bio-diesel powered equipment, today announced a partnership with Neuton Power Equipment, manufacturer of the best-selling Neuton Battery-Powered Lawn Mower. Neuton Power Equipment will provide Clean Air Lawn Care fleet pricing on its Neuton CE 6.2 model battery-powered mower as the company grows its nationwide network of franchises.

Started in 2006 as a sustainable alternative to air- and noise-polluting professional lawn care crews, Clean Air Lawn Care expanded rapidly from its Fort Collins, CO home base to establish a network of franchises in 23 territories nationwide. Clean Air Lawn Care powers its fleet of Neuton Battery-Powered Mowers entirely with renewable energy sources. When the mowers are stored overnight, they are charged using wind power. In the field, the mowers are re-charged using truck-mounted solar arrays.

The Neuton is the nation’s #1 selling battery-powered lawn mower, available in two configurations: 14 in. cut CE 5.2 and 19 in. wide-cut CE 6.2 models. The Neuton mower can be charged on less than 10 cents worth of electricity and is the quietest lawn mower available. The 19 in. wide-cut Neuton will tackle up to 1/3 of an acre on a single charge; the 14 in. model will handle up to 1/4 of an acre before needing to be charged. Both models start with a simple push of a button and feature and easy-to-use drop-in battery that can be charged inside or outside of the mower.

“When we incorporated the Neuton mowers into our operations, the mower and its unique removable battery increased the productivity of our mowing crews” said Gerry Keane, President of Clean Air Lawn Care. “It is durable, nearly silent, delivers great results and – critical for us – it can be re-charged easily with the battery out of the mower so we can keep mowing all day with just a few batteries and our truck-mounted solar array.”

“Clean Air Lawn Care is the future of the lawn care industry,” said Tom Hughes, Neuton Power Equipment customer relations director. “The company has really inspired us with their innovative approach to using alternative power equipment and we’re thrilled to be working with them as they expand across this great nation.”

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a typical gasoline-powered lawn mower emits more than 65 pounds of climate-changing carbon dioxide a year and contributes 93 times more smog-forming emissions than a model year 2006 car. Through its use of renewable energy, Clean Air Lawn Care prevented 32,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution from entering the atmosphere in 2008.
