March 11, 2008 - An opera singing, Internet marketing, environmental business owner
Seattle, WA – What do an opera singer, an Internet marketer, and a lawn guy have in common? They are all the same person. Peter Hamilton of Wedgewood isn’t your average 25 year old.
Two years ago, Peter moved to Seattle to sing with the Seattle Opera. After finding his niche in the local music scene, he and his wife also began singing with the local ensemble, Opus 7. Peter’s wife spends most of her time dancing and teaching Argentine Tango. But it isn’t all singing and dancing for Peter.
Already an Eagle Scout, mountain biker and all around outdoor enthusiast, the move to Seattle empowered Peter to become part of the environmental movement. “The culture of Seattle is one of environmental and social responsibility. It’s easy to believe you can make a difference in a city where there is such momentum behind the environmental movement.”
A year ago, one of Peter’s friends suggested he get involved with a new environmental lawn care business. Clean Air Lawn Care uses clean electric lawn equipment including mowers, edgers and blowers. The vehicles that haul the electric equipment have mounted solar panels which are used to charge the equipment during the workday. The equipment is clean and quiet; the business is carbon neutral. The EPA estimates that 5-10% of all air pollution comes from lawn mowers.
In March of 2007, Peter began an office for the company in Seattle. Since then the business has taken off. Clean Air Lawn Care has a partnership with In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes to offer a complete alternative to conventional lawn care, from mowing to treatment. Peter is excited to see what the coming year will bring for Clean Air which also has a research and development partnership with Black & Decker and has been showcased on the Fine Living Network and CBS News.
With a wide range of skills and interests, on any given day you might find Peter managing office operations, programming the Clean Air website, or even mowing the lawn himself. This February, Peter purchased his own Clean Air Lawn Care franchise locations. As the business begins to spread across the nation, Peter Hamilton will be leading the way in Seattle, which has been the most successful site in the country.
