Kelly Giard of Clean Air Lawn Care is named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2009

Fort Collins, CO - Clean Air Lawn Care CEO, Kelly Giard, has been named Entrepreneur Magazine's Emerging Entrepreneur of 2009. This incredible honor for Clean Air Lawn Care is a testament to the changing face of business - a commitment to being green, setting high ethical and environmental standards, and being an example to others.

Giard, Founder and CEO of Clean Air Lawn Care, Inc was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Giard attended Boston University and earned a BA in Environmental Analysis and Policy, a BA in Economics, and a Masters in Economics (1996). In 1997, Giard began a 7 year career with A.G. Edwards as a retail stockbroker. In 2005 he opened his own LPL brokerage franchise in Fort Collins, CO and successfully sold the business in 2008.

It was during the summer of 2006, and from within his garage that Kelly founded Clean Air Lawn Care, Inc. Using electric mowers powered by wind and solar, and known for being clean and quiet it wasn't long before demand got so high that wait lists were being formed and Giard decided it was time to expand nationally and add an organic treatment program.

Through the use of electric equipment powered by renewable energy, (trucks are equipped with solar panels that recharge the equipment throughout the day), Clean Air Lawn Care removed 32,000 pounds of air pollution equaling over 1,000,000 vehicle miles in 2008. The positive impact of Clean Air Lawn Care's business is parallel with growth. The company operates with a zero carbon footprint.

It was in January of 2008 that the business was franchised, and after selling approximately one territory a month, Clean Air now has 27 territories owned by 18 franchisees. Giard has big plans for 2010, with the establishment of a new subsidiary, Clean Air Compost, available currently only in Northern Colorado. In addition to Clean Air Compost, he projects establishing 24 new territories for Clean Air Lawn Care.
